Box Score Hartford, Conn. - Freshman pitcher Megan Michie (Falls Church,
Va.) threw a five-hit shutout in a 1-0 Colby College victory over
the Trinity College Bantams in the first game of a three-game set
in Hartford this afternoon. Michie struck out five and only allowed
one runner to reach scoring position after the second
inning. Trinity drops to 12-17 overall and 2-8 in the NESCAC
despite a stellar five-hitter in a losing effort by senior
co-captain RHP Katherine Poulos (Wilton, Conn.).
Colby finally broke a scoreless tie with an
unearned run in the seventh inning on an RBI triple
by sophomore Kelsey Park (Presque Isle, Maine) following a Trinity
error. Bantam sophomore outfielder Christina Galese
(Fairfield, N.J.) led off the game with a single and managed to
reach third with less than two outs after a stolen base and a
groundout, but Michie struck out the next two hitters to end the
threat. Trinity only managed two more runners to reach scoring
position on singles and stolen bases by juniors Amelia Mostovoy
(San Francisco, Calif.) and Caroline Blanchard (Norwich, Conn.) in
the second and sixth innings respectively, but both times
failed to capitalize. Poulos struck our four and did not walk
a batter.
