Trinity Women's Squash Advances To Seventh Straight NESCAC Finals

Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantam women's squash team breezed through the first two rounds of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament with a 9-0 win over Hamilton in the quarterfinals and an 8-1 win against Bates in the semifinals.  Trinity, the six-time defending NESCAC Champions and the No. 4-ranked team in the nation, improves to 13-1 while extending its winning streak to five matches.  The top- seeded Bantams will face No. 2-seeded Williams in the NESCAC Finals tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.

Williams defeated Wesleyan, 8-1, in the quarterfinals and Middlebury, 6-3, in the semifinals today.  Bates had beaten Amherst, 8-1, in its quarterfinal and Middlebury had blanked Bowdoin, 9-0, in the remaining quarterfinal match this morning to advance to the evening semifinals.

Trinity won seven times by a 3-0 score against Hamilton and eight times by a 3-0 score against Bates.  Bantam sophomore Chanel Erasmus (Capetown, South Africa) yielded a mere eight points at No. 6 in the Hamilton match, while Jennifer Pelletier (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and sophomore Natalie Babjukova (Prague, Czech Republic) allowed 10 points apiece at No. 6 and No. 4, respectively, against Bates
