Box Score 2 Clermont, Fla. – The Trinity College Bantams
dropped both games of a doubleheader, 1/0-3/8, against Fredonia
State and Frostburg State in softball action today at the United
States Training Center. After starting the season with a win
yesterday afternoon, the Bantams have dropped three straight,
starting their year with a 1-3 record.
In the opening game, Trinity jumped on top, 1-0, in the first
inning, on an RBI double by sophomore 3B Erica Correia, knocking in
Elizabeth McQuaid. Trinity starting pitcher Lily Jewell kept
the Fredonia bats off balance until the sixth inning, when Fredonia
posted three runs on the scoreboard. Fredonia starter Kelsey
Gannet settled in after the first, allowing no other runs, and
striking out nine Bantams in a complete-game effort.
In game two, Frostburg put Trinity in a quick hole, going up 5-0
in the first inning, roping five hits including two doubles and
picking up two walks in the frame. Frostburg added two
additional runs in the second inning, and another in the fourth, as
Trinity could not recover from the early blow and dropped the
innings-shortened game, 8-0.
