Trinity Softball Loses Two In Florida

Clermont, Fla. – The Trinity College Bantams lost a pair of softball games in the Dot Richardson Spring Games at the National Training Center, 12-0, in six innings against the Smith College Pioneers and, 11-9, against the Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham Red Devils this afternoon.  Trinity falls to 1-3.

Smith scored three times in the top of the first inning and twice in the fifth before erupting for a seven-run sixth.  Gina Martucci tossed a two-hitter for Smith, while Trinity junior Erica Correa (Glen Rock, N.J.) doubled and classmate Elizabeth McQuaid (Lowell, Mass.) singled.  

Trinity fell behind, 11-4, against the Red Devils, but scored five times in the bottom of the seventh before leaving the bases loaded.  McQuaid was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs and Correa added a double, two RBI, and two walks for the Bantam offense in game two.
