Trinity Softball Loses Both In Doubleheader Against Wesleyan

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Middletown, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams lost both games of a softball doubleheader against the Wesleyan University Cardinals this afternoon.  Trinity falls to 5-12, falling, 3-2, and, 9-1, in five innings Wesleyan pulls even at 11-11.  The games today were originally scheduled at Trinity but were moved to Wesleyan due to a wet field in Hartford.  Trinity batted as the home team.

Trinity junior Erica Quinones (Trumbull, Conn.) had a two-run single in the fifth inning of game one, but the Bantams left two runners on base in the first and fifth innings of game one, as Wesleyan freshman lefty Julie McDonald worked out of a several jams.  Junior Elizabeth McQuaid (Lowell, Mass.) led off the bottom of the final inning with a single, while first-year Michelle Treglia (Fairfield, Conn.) and Quinones both walked to load the bases with one out, but McDonald struck out the next batter and Bantam rookie Katharine Haghdan (Pelham, N.H.) lined to center field to end the game.

Wesleyan had built its 3-0 lead on Trinity error in the second inning, and a sacrifice fly and an RBI single by sophomore Angelina Massoia in the fourth stanza.  Each team had seven hits in the game. Junior Hannah King (Kennebunk, Maine) absorbed the complete-game loss for the Bantams, allowing seven hits with four strikeouts, while Quinones reached base safely each time at bat with three hits and a base on balls.

In the second game, Cardinal junior Su Pardo gave up five hits and one run while the Cardinals pounded out 12 hits.  It was tied 1-1 after two innings, as Wesleyan scored in the top of the second frame on a squeeze bunt and Trinity answered with an RBI single by McQuaid in the bottom of the inning.  First-year Lexi Santurri (East Greenwich, R.I.) took the loss in the circle for Trinity.
