Clinton, N.Y. - Juniors Katie Haghdan (Pelham, N.H.) and Meaghan Race (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had two hits and three RBI apiece and first-year LHP Lindsay Golia (North Branford, Conn.) tossed a five-hit shutout to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 15-0 win over the Hamilton College Continentals in the opening game of a softball doubleheader this afternoon at Loop Road Complex. Trinity, which lost the nightcap, 6-5, moves to 18-11, while Hamilton is now 10-20.

Trinity jumped on the Continentals for five runs with two outs in the second inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Haghdan and rookie OF Nikki Anderson (Dunbarton, N.H.) a two-run double by junior Erica Merullo (Lynnfield, Mass.).  The Bantams scored again in the third inning, posted another five-run frame in the fourth inning, including two on a two-out, two-run single by Haghdan, and pounded out four more in the fifth inning with two of those coming via a two-run Race single.  

Trinity trailed, 2-0, after one inning but rallied and took a 3-2 lead after its second at-bat thanks to a run-scoring double by Race and a two-run double by senior captain Victoria Baez (Tuckahoe, N.Y.).  The Continentals scored twice more in the bottom halves of both the second and fifth frames, however, before Trinity mounted a last-ditch effort in the top of the seventh.  First-year Natalie Bruno (Stratham, N.H.) doubled and scored on a two-out Baez double, and Baez then came home on a clutch single to left-center by Haghdan. The Bantams loaded the bases on a walk and a hit-by-pitch, but Hamilton recorded the final out on a force out at third base to escape with a 6-5 win.
