Softball Drops Twinbill at Amherst

Amherst, Mass. - The Trinity College softball team dropped a doubleheader on Saturday to New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) West foe Amherst College. Amherst improves to 15-4 on the season while Trinity falls to 10-7 on the year and will travel to Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday for a 4:00 PM start.

Trinity lost game one, 10-2, after giving up six runs in the home half of the first. Amherst notched six hits in the first frame and finished the game with 11 total. The Mammoths added a run in the second and three more in the third to run away with the game one victory.

Trinity scratched across a pair in the top of the fifth on a two-run error to account for the 10-2 final. Amherst was paced by Audrey Hansen who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a triple. 

Talia Bloxham allowed just two hits while striking out four in five innings to help lead Amherst in game two to a 7-0 win and complete the doubleheader sweep. Kate Kopatic went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored to lead Amherst on the offensive side of things. Trinity rookie Jordan Stephan (South Orange, N.J.) struck out four in the circle despite being saddled with the loss.
