Hartford, Conn. - Alex Szwarcewicz scored twice to lead the visiting Bates College Bobcats to a 2-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon at Trinity Soccer Field. Trinity falls to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the NESCAC, while the Bobcats are now 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the league. Trinity rookie
Jacob Loor (Houston, Texas) scored on a penalty kick to cut the Bobcat lead to 2-1 in the 71st minute.
Szwarcewicz scored the game's first goal in the 20th minute from Justin Phillips and added his second marker of the contest in the 38th minute from Jacob Iwowo. Loor got taken down in the box by a Bates defender and drilled the penalty kick into the upper right of the goal to make the score, 2-1. Eight minutes later, Bantam sophomore
Dante Merlin (South Windsor, Conn.) got past Bates goalie Bruce David with the ball during a scrum in front of the net but his shot shot turned away by Bobcat back James Peter to keep Trinity from tying the score.
