Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Falls to Suffolk in Overtime

HARTFORD, Conn. – A game winning goal from Madison Duff in overtime led the Suffolk University Rams to a 4-3 victory over the Trinity College women's ice hockey team on Friday night in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The loss marks the first for the Bantams this season as they head into tomorrow night's 7 p.m. game against Johnson & Wales University with a 4-1-1 record.

Trinity struck first at the top of the second period on a power play. Senior Ellie Fellows' (Westport, Mass.) initial shot was kicked out by Suffolk goaltender Lily O'Neil but junior Stephanie Nevers (West Suffield, Conn.) was there to clean it up and give the Bantams a 1-0 lead. Suffolk then answered on an even-strength unassisted-goal at the 12:27 mark but Trinity would regain the lead just three and a half minutes into the third when sophomore Hannah Feinberg (Summit, N.J.) buried a power play goal on an assist from first-year Annika Dyczkowski (Milford, Mich.) before Fellows extended the lead to 3-1 for the Blue and Gold with the help of Nevers and first-year Paige Kehoe (Manasquan, N.J.).

The Rams again responded with a power play goal from Maddy Burton to cut the deficit to one score at the 9-minute mark in the third period and again less than three minutes later Burton netted her second goal of the night, this time with both sides at full-strength. Trinity managed to put a pair of shots on goal during the 3-on-3 overtime period but Suffolk wrapped things up when Duff netted the game-winner with the help of Burton and Shana Cote.

The Bantams were 2-for-4 on power plays while Suffolk only netted one of its four goals on a numbers advantage. Sophomore goaltender Hannah Leclair (Kensington, Prince Edward Island). registered 28 saves in nets for Trinity while O'Neil tallied 14 of her own for the Rams.
