Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Outlasts Hobart at Home

HARTFORD, Conn. – Four different goal scorers led the Trinity College men's ice hockey team to a 4-3 victory over Hobart College Saturday night in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams climb back to .500 with a 4-4 record and a 2-2 spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Hobart was dealt just its second loss on the year as they now sit at 8-2-1 overall. Trinity returns to action after the holiday break on Friday Dec. 31 with a 2 p.m. matchup at Babson College.

Hobart's Zach Tyson netted the game's first goal less than four minutes into the contest, assisted by Aaron Maguyon but Trinity responded with two scores of its own in the first period. Sophomore Devan Tongue (Hampden, Mass.) registered his second career goal and the first for the Bantams on the night with 13:32 remaining in the first on a power play. Tougue was assisted by senior Cole Poliziani (Burlington, Ontario) and sophomore Jax Murray (Minneapolis, Minn). Murray then gave Trinity the 2-1 lead nearly five minutes later with the help of sophomores Kyle Tomaso (Milford, Mass.) and Gerard Maretta (Brick, N.J.).

The second period yielded similar results as the first with Hobart scoring first but Trinity again responding with two goals. Following Luke Aquaro's goal for the visiting team, sophomore Casey Rhodes (Huntington Beach, Calif.) added Trinity's third tally of the evening assisted by Poliziani (14:19 P2). Less than three minutes later, first-year Richard Boysen (Belle Vernon, Pa.) gave the Bantams what would end up being the game winner taking a 4-2 lead despite Hobart adding a third goal at the top of the final frame. Boysen carried the puck up the ice and fired from the left-side circle, burying the puck in the top-shelf for his first career-goal. First-year Patrick Pugliese picked up the win in net for the Bantams with 26 saves while Hobart goaltender Liam Lascelle tallied 23 saves of his own.
