ELMIRA, N.Y. – The visiting Trinity College women's ice hockey team lost to No. 9-ranked Elmira College, 4-1 on Tuesday night. It is the third straight loss for the Bantams as they shift to 6-5-1 overall while Elmira improves to 14-2-1 on the season. Trinity picks up action on Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. tilt against conference foe Amherst College in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams have 10 games remaining on their regular season schedule as they face all New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponents, seeing each team in back-to-back contests.
Elmira's Brianna Haviland netted the first goal of the night less than three minutes into competition and the Eagles maintained a 1-0 lead for the remainder of the first period. In the second period, Elmira added its second tally nearly eight minutes following the break as Eliza Beaudin and company capitalized on the power-play. The Eagles opened up the night's final period with a goal just 21 second into action thanks to Claire Meeder who would go on to score a second time, taking advantage of a Trinity open net and giving her team a 4-1 lead right before the final buzzer. The Bantams outshot Elmira 30-22 and went 1-for-3 on power-plays with the Eagles scoring on one of their two power-plays.
