HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's ice hockey team was defeated by Colby College, 7-0 on Friday night in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams fall to 6-6-1 with a 2-4-0 mark in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play while Colby improves to 10-3 (6-3 NESCAC). Trinity will square off with Mules again on Sunday at 1 p.m. back in Hartford.
Playing with just 14 active players, the Bantams saw one of their best scoring opportunities less than 30 seconds into action when first-year
Paige Kehoe (Manaswuan, N.J.) carried the puck up ice in a 2-on-1 situation and had clean look that was turned away by Colby goaltender Nina Prunster.
The Mules scored their first of seven goals at the 1:24 mark as Bri Michaud-Nolan was assisted by Collen Donoghue. Meg Rittenhouse led Colby with two scores and also chipped in an assist on the evening. In addition to Rittenhouse and Michaud-Nolan, Colby's other goal scorers were Anna Staton, Paige Larose, McKinley Karpa and Anya Jiang. The Mules netted three in the first period, one in the second and dumped in three more in the final frame while going 2-for-5 on power plays throughout the contest.
The Bantams were outshot 53-22 with Prunster collecting 22 saves for Colby. Meanwhile, sophomore goaltender
Hannah Leclair (Kensington, Prince Edward Island) recorded a career high 45 saves in net for Trinity.
