HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College men's ice hockey team fell to Connecticut College, 3-1 on Friday night in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams drop to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play. Connecticut College improves to 3-7 while earning its second NESCAC win to shift to 2-5 this season. Trinity returns for another home game tomorrow evening against conference opponent, Tufts University at 4 p.m. while the Camels travel to Wesleyan University at 3 p.m.
Connecticut's first goal came at the 14:44 mark when Will Winship was battling to control the puck behind net before kicking it out behind him to a slashing Lukas Uhler who tucked away first score of the night.
In the second period, Camels' Eric Fournier fired from the top of the zone and sent the puck over the left shoulder of Bantam goaltender
Patrick Pugliese. Connecticut's first two goals came at even strength but they were able to add a third on a power play when Paul Capozzi played the puck into the crease towards Uhler who sent it back out to Capozzi to finish the job.
Trinity managed to cut the deficit to two goals when first-year
Richard Boysen (Belle Vernon, Pa.) controlled a loose puck immediately following a faceoff and riffled a one-timer to the top-shelf for the first Bantam goal of the night and his second of his young career.
Trinity outshot the Camels 40-26 but lost the faceoff battle 43-21. Sophomore goaltender
Patrick Pugliese made 23 saves while Sean Dynan collected 39 stops for the visitors.
