MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Junior RB
Colin McCabe (Madison, Conn.) scored two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 1:08 left in the fourth quarter to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 27-21 victory over the Middlebury College Panthers in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) football action this afternoon on Youngman Field. Trinity takes over sole possession of first place in the NESCAC at 5-0, while the Panthers drop to 4-1. The Bantams host Williams in their next game on Saturday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m.
With the game tied at 21-21 after back-to-back Middlebury touchdowns in the fourth quarter, Trinity engineered a 10-play, 75-yard drive for the clinching score. Trinity senior QB
Spencer Fetter (Winter Park, Fla.) completed five passes for 81 yards during the possession including a 23-yarder to sophomore WR
Sean Clapp (Wyckoff, N.J.) on 3rd-and-20 and a 13-yard toss to junior RB
Will Kirby (Darien, Conn.) on 3rd-and-9. After the second 3rd-down conversion put the ball at the Panther three-yard line, McCabe ran the ball into the end zone on first down. The PAT failed, however, but the Trinity defense did not allow a first down on Middlebury's final chance.
McCabe's first touchdown came on the first drive of the game, capping off a 16-play, 75-yard drive that too over eight minutes. Middlebury nearly answered but Bantam senior S
Hunter Tully (Taunton, Mass.) recovered a fumble at his own one-yard line after the home team had driven into the red zone. Trinity senior LB
Wigs Crowley (East Milton, Mass.) stopped another Middlebury drive in the second quarter with an interception at his own 14-yard line, and Trinity eventually took a 14-0 lead into halftime on a 12-yard scoring strike from Fetter to WR
DeVante Reid (London, England).
A bad punt gave Trinity the ball deep in Middlebury territory in the third quarter and Fetter found TE
Thomas Walsh (Pelham, N.Y.) for a 14-yard touchdown pass to give the visitors a 21-0 lead. Middlebury got on the board later in the frame on a two-yard pass from Cole Kennon to Patrick Jamin, after the pair had connected on a 57-yard bomb to set up the score. The Panthers scored again early in the fourth quarter to pull within a touchdown 7:59 left on a 36-yard touchdown pass from Kennon to Greg Livingston. Kennon threw a third touchdown, this one to Donovan Wood from 25 yards away, to tie the score at the 3:15 mark.
Fetter finished 21-for-27 for 198 yards and two touchdowns, including five to Clapp for a team-high 87 yards. Kirby rushed 18 times for 98 yards and McCabe added 48 yards on the ground. Kennon was 23-for-42 for 386 yards, while both Jamin and Wood had over 100 yards receiving. Trinity LB

Noah Glantz (Scarsdale, N.Y.) added 2.5 sacks, and senior CB
Justin O'Neil-Riley (Dorchester, Mass.) broke up three passes. Middlebury's Finn Muldoon led all tacklers with 13.
