HARTFORD, Conn. — Despite a season-high 16 total shots by the Trinity College men's soccer team, the Bantams were blanked 2-0 by New England Small College Athletic Conference foe Williams College at home on Saturday. The team moved to 1-10-3 overall and 0-7-1 in the league, while the Ephs improved to 5-1-8 and 3-1-5. Junior
Michael Traynor (Rye, N.Y.) had a team-leading seven shots with a trio at the target, while sophomore Nicholas Bellick (Amherst, Mass.) recorded five and had a pair of shots on goal. Also trying to kickstart the offense was juniorÂ
James Donaldson (Kirkland, Quebec) and sophomore Rasheed Saireh (Nashville, Tenn.) each notched four shots with a solo one on goal.
The visitors capitalized early with a lengthy pass off the foot of Eamon Gara Grady to Nathan Song, who took the ball around a Bantam defender to sneak one into the bottom right corner of the net four minutes into regulation. Six minutes after the eventual-game winning goal,
Jacob Loor (Houston, Texas) had a huge blocked shot by Williams to help keep Trinity in the game. Bellick attempted the equalizer that missed the threshold by mere centimeters to graze the crossbar before Ben Diffley etched the save with 30
minutws remaining. The scoreboard remained at 1-0 until Henry Kirkman scored off a throw in by the Ephs in the 67th minute.
Trinity remains at home for the last regular season game against NESCACÂ opponent Amherst on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
