HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams were held to just three shots, including just one in the first three quarters, as the visiting Williams College Ephs came away with a 2-0 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 4 in the nation, falls to 11-3 overall and 6-3 in the NESCAC with its regular-season finale scheduled for Tuesday against No. 5-ranked Amherst ar 6 p.m. Williams, ranked No. 10 nationally, improves to 11-3 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
Williams scored on the game's first shot 2:26 into the first quarter off the stick of Kiki Higgins. Trinity junior goalkeeper
Olivia McMichael (Glenside, Pa.) made a save on Higgins later in the opening stanza, but no other shots were on goal. McMichael made two more saves in the third quarter. Bantam junior
Katrina Winfield (Wilmington, Del.) had a shot blocked in the first half and
Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) had one sail wide and one blocked on the lone Bantam penalty corner with 7:03 remaining in the contest. Shea van der Broek scored an insurance goal for the Ephs in the final minute.
