HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior captain Ben Callahan-Gold (New York, N.Y.) had a game-high 29 points, six rebounds, and a blocked shot to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 86-71 win over the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in men's basketball action this evening on Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 4-0 for the first time since 2007-08 and Eastern Connecticut drops to 2-3.  The Bantams will host Elms on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in their next game and the Warriors visit Connecticut College on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Trinity trailed, 18-12, with eight minutes left in the first half after a three-pointer by Warrior freshman guard Dominick Dao (Terryville, Conn.), but Bantam sophomore guard Will Dorion (Needham, Mass.) drilled three three-pointers to give the lead back to Trinity at 21-20 with 5:34 on the clock.  Rakesh Tibby scored inside for Eastern Connecticut, and then the Bantams closed the half with a 14-5 run that ended with a jumper by Dorion with four seconds remaining before the break.  Dorion finished the first half with 11 points and the Bantam bench contributed 16 points before intermission.

Eastern Connecticut hung tough and cut the Trinity lead to 44-41 with 15:46 left in the second half on a trey by Cade Ensinger, but Callahan-Gold scored eight unanswered points in a span of 1:06 to put the Bantam ahead by double digits at 51-42.  Tibby scored on a put-back to make the score, 70-61 with 7:43 left to play but Trinity sophomore forward Sean Macarchuk (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) made one of his five second-half three-pointers to push the home team's advantage back up to 12 at 73-61 moments later.  Trinity went ahead by as many as 18 points and had a comfortable led the rest of the way.

Trinity made 14 three pointers in 31 attempts (45.2%) in the game and seven of 13 after halftime.  Macarchuk was 6-for-9 from long range for all of his career-high 18 points and added five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.  Callahan-Good finished 11-for-22 from the floor, 3-for-7 from three-point land, and 4-for-4 from the foul line, while Dorion finished with 17 points, shooting 7-for-13 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, and dished out 10 assists.  Bantam senior Joe Hoch (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) added eight points, six rebounds, and a block and rookie Henry Vetter (Kenilworth, Ill.) had eight points and five assists off the bench.  Four Warriors finished in double figures in scoring, led by Quinton Lott with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Max Lee also grabbed 11 boards for Eastern Connecticut, and Tyreice Woods contributed 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
