Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Hamilton College Skates Past Men's Ice Hockey, 3-1

Nicholas Siffringer posted the lone goal for the Bantams in the third period.

CLINTON, N.Y. — In the opening two periods, J.P. Mella (Stamford, Conn.) stopped 21 saves in the Trinity College men's ice hockey team's 3-1 loss on the road at Hamilton College on Friday. The Bantams dropped to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Continentals improved to 3-2 and 1-1. The team remains on the other to face another NESCAC foe at Amherst College on Saturday at 3 p.m.

After remaining in a 0-0 deadlock through the first period, Hamilton capitalized off Ben Zimmerman's first goal of the night from a quick pass by Jackson Krock 3:47 into the second half. Zimmerman connected on his second goal of the night and the eventual game-winning shot sent by Nick Hawkins and Grisha Gotovets against a shorthanded Trinity team 51 seconds into the third.

Second-year forward Nicholas Siffringer (Franklin Lakes, N.Y.) put the visitors on the board 11 minutes later and narrowed the deficit to within one. Siffringer notched his first career goal for the Navy & Gold after Jacob Borgida (Minneapolis, Minn.) received the puck, for his first assist of the season, from Kyle Tomaso (Newport, R.I.) and sent it streaking towards the sophomore.

Krock padded the lead for the home team off an unassisted empty net goal with a minute and three seconds remaining in the final period. In the net for the Continentals, Charlie Archer saved 30 Bantam shots with 11 in the first period, six in the second and 13 in the third. Tomaso's stick was at the end of five of those attempts, while Jax Murray (Minneapolis, Minn.) accounted for four. Behind the blueline, Hamilton held a strong defense with 15 block shots, while on the other end of the ice Trinity blocked eight.
