Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Ice Hockey Downs Williams College For Second Time This Season

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Sophomore Gerard Maretta (Brick, N.J.) and first-year Richard Boysen (Belle Vernon, Pa.) each posted one goal and one assist while senior Lucas Michaud (South Portland, Maine) netted the game-winner in the second period to lead the visiting Trinity College men's ice hockey team over Williams College on Saturday afternoon in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. The Bantams improve to 9-7-1 (8-5-1 NESCAC) while Williams drops to 9-9 overall and a 9-6 mark in conference games. Trinity has nearly a week off before hosting Bowdoin College on Friday at 7 p.m. while the Ephs travel to Babson college Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start time.

The first period of action saw four total goals with each side netting a pair. Maretta started things off for the Bantams when he flicked the puck top-shelf at the 11:12 mark to take the 1-0 lead. Sophomores Jax Murray (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Kyle Tomaso (Newport, R.I.) were each credited for assists on the goal. Just over a minute later, Williams responded with a slap-shot from Tyler Cooligan who registered the unassisted goal.

At the 15:34 mark in the opening period, Boysen was assisted by Devan Tongue and Nicholas Siffringer to regain the one score lead. However, once again the Ephs managed to answer with Nicholas Rashkovsky knocking in a deflected shot from Ethan Prout for the equalizer at 19:03.

Tied at 2 apiece, the Bantams had themselves a 2-skater advantage as Michaud tucked away the game winner less than three minutes into the second period and Tomaso tallied his second helper on the afternoon. Sophomore J.P. Mella (Stamford, Conn.) picked up his third win in net for Trinity, collecting 23 saves while Evan Ruschil recorded 28 stops for the home squad.
