Colin Mann (Dedham, Mass.) doubled twice with two runs and three RBIs to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 10-9 victory over the Johns Hopkins University Bluejays in baseball action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 3-2 and the No. 13-ranked Bluejays drop to 8-6. Trinity plays its second game of six in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The Bantams scored six runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-3 lead and held on at the end thanks to a clutch relief appearance by rookie RHP
Tyler Colditz (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) to close it out.
Trailing, 1-0, early, Trinity scored three runs in the second inning to go ahead. Mann smacked a two-run double and scored the third run of the frame. The Bluejays tied the game at 3-all with two runs in the top of the third, but the Bantams went back ahead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by junior 2B
Patrick Dillon (Bronx, N.Y.). In the fifth inning, Mann and sophomores
Sean Meth (Sands Point, N.Y.) and
Andrew Tuozzolo (Pittstown, N.J.) each had RBI doubles to highlight the six-run rally. Johns Hopkins chipped away and trailed just 10-9, in the top of the ninth with the bases juiced when Colditz came in retired three in a row on two fly balls and a strikeout to end it and earn his first career save.
