Trinity Men's Lacrosse Overwhelms No. 18 Hamilton in Final Home Game

HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) scored a career-high four goals to lead the Trinity College men's lacrosse team to an 11-2 victory over No. 18-ranked Hamilton College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play on Monday night at Jessee/Miller Field. The Bantams' win in their final home game of the season marks their second against a conference opponent improving their record to 6-7 overall (2-7 NESCAC). Meanwhile, Hamilton drops to 4-6 overall and 7-6 in conference games. Trinity will close out its regular season on Wednesday at Amherst College with a 6 p.m. start. 
 
The Bantams took a two-goal lead in the first quarter with senior Reid McDonald (Aldie, Va.) registering the first tally of the evening and Ike making it a two-score game with 27 seconds before the first period concluded. Ike then opened up the second with a goal at the 13:21 mark followed by a man-up score from junior William Puccio (Garden City, N.Y.) and goals by first-year John Cowdrick (Lexington, Mass.) and senior Jack Cahill (Medfield, Mass.) extended the lead to 6-0 before the half. The third period saw just one goal as Ike recorded his first hat-trick of his career. 
 
Hamilton finally broke through at the top of the final frame when Justin Pearl posted an unassisted goal for the Continentals. The visitors then added another on a man-up opportunity to with Zach Perotto cutting the deficit to five with 11 minutes remaining in play but Ike tallied his fourth goal of the night nearly 30 seconds later making the score 8-2. Senior Connor McCulloch, junior Cullen Wolf (Maplewood, N.J.) and Cahill recorded the final three goals of the night for Trinity while sophomore goalkeeper Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) racked up total 20 saves in net for the Bantams and Seamus Fagan collected 13 for Hamilton.
