HARTFORD, Conn. — After being down a set, the Trinity College volleyball team rallied back in the second set to force a fourth against New England Small College Athletic Conference foe Tufts on Saturday (24-26, 25-23, 20-25, 24-26). The Bantams fell to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Jumbos improved to 4-2 and 1-1.

Trinity led in the first set 21-15 before knotting the game 22-22 off five-straight kills by the visitors. The two teams were neck-in-neck before tying it again at 24 apiece followed by two-consecutive points by Tufts to take the set.

The Bantams regrouped for the next set to even the count at one set each with a 25-23 triumph. After being down 5-1 to start, the Bantams kept fighting and took a three-point lead thanks to
Grace Sullivan's (Fort Worth, Tx.) four serving run to put the team up 20-17. With the score being 24-23,
Margaret McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) secured the match point with a kill set up by
Lola Craig (Los Angeles, Calif.)

Tufts took the lead in the third set with a 25-20 final score despite Craig's and
Isabella Caffuzzi's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) combined 12 kills. In similar fashion as the opening set, the visitors nabbed the win with a 26-24 score.Â

Trinity combined for 41 kills compared to Tufts 58 with McCarthy, Craig and Caffuzzi each tallying eight. Craig led the Bantams with 35 total attacks, two assists and a serving ace.
Molly Bernstein (Oakland, Calif.) and Sullivan each recorded four serving aces, while Bernstein and
Eva Lekovic (San Marino, Calif.) tallied a trio of solo blocks each.

The team is back in action on Wednesday as they host NESCAC opponent Wesleyan at 6 p.m. in Oosting Gym.
