AMHERST, Mass. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams returned from a 27-day layoff with a 2-1 setback against the Amherst College Mammoths in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this evening. Trinity falls to 4-6 overall and 0-5 in the NESCAC entering tomorrow's game against the Mammoths to conclude the two-game series. Amherst opened up a 2-0 lead, as the teams combined for just 25 shots between them over the first 40 minutes. Mary Thompson scored in the first period and Emily Hohmann scored in the second for the Mammoths. Guider cut Trinity's deficit in half with assists provided by senior captain

Hannah Feinberg (Summit, N.J.) got off a strong wrist shot from the left circle that Amherst goalie Natalie Stott controlled. In the final seconds, Capone got off a shot that was blocked, and Exnerova picked up the loose puck and fired a close-range shot from the lower right circle that Stott put a blocker on to push aside. With 10 seconds left, Mammoth Maeve Reynolds won a face-off in her defensive zone and cleared the puck down the ice as the clock ran out.
