BRUNSWICK, Maine — On the road at Bowdoin College,
Richard Boysen (Belle Vernon, Pa.) netted the eventual game-winning goal in the opening period in the Trinity College men's ice hockey team 4-0 shutout on Saturday. The Bantams round out the regular season with a two-day series with Wesleyan University with the first matchup on February 17 with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. Trinity improved to 16-5-1 overall and 13-2-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Polar Bears dropped to 11-8-3 and 3-5-1.
Boysen received the puck from
Devan Tongue (Hampden, Mass.), which was setup by
Andrew Troy (Ithaca, N.Y.) for the first goal of the night at 8:53 into the first period. Trinity held the 1-0 lead until a strong third period saw a trio of Bantam goals. Two minutes into the third stanza, Troy dodged an oncoming defender to connect with the net with assists from
Kyle Tomaso (Newport, R.I.) and
Nicholas Siffringer (Franklin Lakes, N.J.).
Riley Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) netted back-to-back goals to put the nail in the coffin for the Navy & Gold, with the first assisted by
Spencer Korona (Enfield, Conn.) and an empty netter for the second.
The home team had 13 chances to score the equalizer, but
Devon Bobak (Northwood, Ohio) put a glove on nine, while Korona, Boysen,
Casey Rhodes (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and
Devon Bobak (New Rochelle, N.Y.) each blocked a puck. Bobak made 23 saves in the cage for the Bantams, while Alex Kozic stopped 22, with 11 coming off in the first period.
