Women's Ice Hockey Falls 2-1 in OT at Williams

Emma Robertson netted the game-tying goal in the third period to force overtime.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — With a little more than eight and a half minutes remaining in the final period of regulation, Emma Robertson (Halifax, Nova Scotia) connected with the net to knot the game at 1-1 and force overtime between the Trinity College women's ice hockey team and Williams College in the 2-1 overtime loss on Saturday. Trinity moved to 9-10-0 overall and 3-9-0 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Ephs improved to 10-9-0 and 5-7-0. The Bantams return home for a two-game series with league rival Bowdoin College, with game one on February 10 with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.

Hannah Leclair (Kensington, Prine Edward Island) made 10 saves in the box for the Navy & Gold to keep the home team off the board in the opening quarter, along with blocks by Ethel Wilhelmsson (Stockholm, Sweden) and Annika Dyczkowski (Milford, Mich.). In the next stanza, Ellia Chiang netted an unassisted goal to take the lead for Williams at 10:37 and Trinity had six chances to tie in the second including a puck off the pipe by Robertson. The first-year finally found the back of the net at 11:40 in the third period after Dyczkowski set up the goal off the pass from Anne Levia (Bancroft, Ontario).

The Bantams stayed aggressive in the final minutes of regulation with 14 shots on target as Erin Pye made 12 saves in the box. Leclair made two saves and Martina Exnerova (Nelahozeves, Czechia) blocked an Ephs shot to keep the game tied at one a piece. With one minute remaining in extra time, Maddie Tix stopped the clock with the game-winning goal for Williams. Leclair totaled 28 saves, while Pye denied 33 Bantam pucks.
