Trinity Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Babson, 17-10

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Graduate student Harrison Ike (Allentown, Penn.) and junior Peter Cannon (Houston, Texas) both notched hat tricks in their second contest of the season in the Trinity College men's lacrosse lost, 17-10, on the road versus the Babson College on Wednesday. The Bantams fell to 0-2 overall, while the Beavers improved to 2-1. Trinity looks to clinch their first win this weekend as they face more New England Small College Athletic Conference competition against the Bates College Bobcats on March 11 at 1:00 pm in their home opener.

The first quarter of play produced great hope on the Bantam sideline, as Trinity went up 4-2 within the first seven minutes of play. Sophomore Jon Krikorian (Windham, N.H.) closed out scoring in the first stanza and opened it back up for the Navy & Gold in the second after the Beavers netted three unanswered goals in-between. The second quarter proved to be a shift in momentum for the Beavers, as the home team outscored the Bantams, 6-2. Babson was able to pull away in the final half of regulation, outscoring Trinity 7-3. Ryan Kenney notched a six goals, while Will Spangenberg produced eight points on two goals and six assists for the Beavers.
 
Junior Seamus Johnston (Duxbury, Mass.) and sophomore John Cowdrick (Lexington, Mass.) stood tall defensively for the Bantams, as they both caused three turnovers each. Babson won 16 face-offs while Trinity claimed 13, and the Beavers also out-shot Trinity 52-44. Junior Dane Crowley (Pelham, N.Y.) scooped six ground balls, while junior Will Nelson (Darien, Conn.) had four for the Bantams. Juniors Andrew Bailey (Madison, N.J.) and Tyler DeSimone (St. James, N.Y.) both notched one goal apiece for the Trinity squad.
