Lily Ives (Chappaqua, N.Y.) scored five goals to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 14-6 victory over the St. Lawrence University Saints in women's lacrosse action this afternoon at Hall-Leet Field. Trinity, ranked No. 14 in the nation, improves to 7-2 with the 100th victory in the career of Bantam Head Coach
Katy Szymanski. The No. 25-ranked Saints drop to 3-5 with their third loss in a row. Trinity will continue its current three-game road trip with a 6 p.m. tilt at New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rival Connecticut College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Szymanski is now 100-39 (.719) in her ninth season as Trinity's head coach.
Trinity trailed, 1-0, early after a goal by St. Lawrence's Liz Evans, but the Bantams rattled off five goals in a row over the remainder of the first quarter including two by senior tri-captain
Elle Fair (Westport, Conn.). The Saints opened the second quarter with their second goal, but Trinity responded similarly with a 6-0 run that lasted into the third frame. Ives scored the first three and junior attacker
Caroline Lampert (Wayland, Mass.) assisted on two and scored a third during the run. Charlotte Powell scored for the Saints to make it, 11-3, with 10:42 left in the third but Ives, junior midfielder
Casey Ward (Norwell, Mass.) and Lampert answered with three tallies in a row. St. Lawrence scored three times in the fourth quarter to account for the 14-6 final score.
Trinity outshot St. Lawrence, 30-18, and forced 30 turnovers. Lampert matched Ives with five points, scoring twice and assisting on three goals, while Fair, Ward, and first-year attacker
