Late Surge Leaves Bantams Short, 3-2 Against Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Trinity College Field Hockey team faced a narrow defeat against the Connecticut College Camels, losing 3-2 in a closely contested NESCAC matchup on Tuesday night.

The Camels opened the scoring just thirty seconds into the game, as a defensive save by Eva McKelvey redirected the ball to forward Bridget Mason, who flicked it into the cage. Despite multiple attempts from Trinity, including shots from Nina Falkson, Tatum Stickney, and Fiona Murphy, they were unable to find the net. Falkson released another shot on goal but was denied by the Camels Goalkeeper Liz Winemaster, leaving the score frozen 1-0 in Connecticut's favor entering the break.

Connecticut College extended their lead in the third quarter, scoring twice more to create a 3-0 advantage. During this period, the Bantams were outshot 8-3.

Trinity fought back in the 47th minute when Julia Lambert scored an unassisted goal, putting the Bantams on the board. With just under ten minutes remaining, Trinity intensified their offensive efforts. Stickney had a shot deflected off Winemaster's pads, but she quickly recovered and took another shot that resulted in a penalty stroke. Senior Izzy Deveney stepped up and converted the stroke, marking her fourth successful attempt of the season. Deveney is now 4-for-4 this season and 5-for-7 in her career.

Although the Bantams narrowed the gap to one goal, they ultimately fell short. Connecticut College outshot Trinity 14-12 overall, with a slight 11-to-7 edge in shots on goal. Trinity's goalkeeper, Sydney Korkosz, recorded seven saves throughout the match.

The Bantams will continue their NESCAC campaign with a matchup against Colby College on Saturday, October 19th, at 11 AM.
