Last Minute Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Over Hamilton On Senior Day, 1-0

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Soccer team used a goal in the 79th minute of play to defeat visiting Hamilton College, 1-0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Trinity Soccer Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 3-8-3 overall and 1-5-3 in conference play, while the Continentals drop to 2-5-3 in the NESCAC and 6-6-3 on the season.

Prior to the match, the Bantams recognized their five departing seniors for their dedication to the Trinity College Women's Soccer program: Katelyn Charette (Hampton, N.H.), Sami Olsen (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Sofia Quijada (New Hyde Park, N.Y.), Anna Franceschi (Milwaukee, Wisc.), and Libby Harris (Slingerlands, N.Y.).

With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, the Bantams made one final charge into the Hamilton zone where sophomore Emma Almoney found junior Elsa Deutsch on a run to the net. Deutsch fired a shot on net that was saved by Continentals goalkeeper junior Nieve Tonna, but the loose ball trickled towards the far post, where junior Elena Lindonen beat a defender to the ball and tucked a shot into the open side of the net, sending the Bantams to the 1-0 victory.

The Bantams dominated the shot column, 19-8, and held the edge in corner kicks, 8-5. Trinity first-year keeper Lily Bracken posted her first career shutout with one save, while Tonna made a match-high eight saves for Hamilton.

The Bantams will return to the field for their 2024 regular season finale against Amherst College Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Hamilton wrapped regular season play.
