HARTFORD, Conn. – The #9-ranked Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team withstood a second period push from host Plymouth State, securing a 2-1 non-conference victory on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Bantams improve to 3-1-1 overall, while the Panthers fall to 5-3-0.
Trinity's offense was aggressive from the outset, registering 23 shots on goal over the first two periods, narrowly outshooting Plymouth 23-22. The Bantams struck first at 15:43 of the opening frame when Ty Broad scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Brendan Kimball and Michael Sullo. The game-winning goal came in the second period at 12:05, when Ryan Panico found the back of the net, assisted by Kevin MacKay and Connor Sedlak.
Plymouth State were gifted a power-play opportunity in the second period, and Ethan Stuckless tested Trinity junior goaltender Devon Bobak with back-to-back shots, both of which were turned aside. However, the Panthers pulled within one when Connor Tait capitalized on a third opportunity, beating Bobak to make it 2-1 entering the third period.
Bobak stood tall in the final frame, facing 11 shots and shutting down any further scoring chances to preserve the Bantams' 2-1 victory.
Trinity will return to action on Sunday, December 1, when they host Manhattanville College at 2:00 p.m. at the Koeppel Community Sports Center.
