HARTFORD, Conn. – Devon Bobak recorded his first shutout of the 2024 season and the 13th of his career, as the 9th-ranked Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team cruised to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Albertus Magnus Falcons on Saturday night. The Bantams improve to 6-1-1 on the season, while the Falcons drop to 4-4-1.
Trinity struck early, with Oliver Gabrielson opening the scoring just five minutes into the first period. Gabrielson's goal was assisted by Richard Boysen and James Barbour. Despite the Falcons holding a 12-11 advantage in shots, Trinity carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The second period began with a Bantams power play, as Falcons' Akezhan Melis was penalized for a five-minute major. The Bantams capitalized quickly, scoring twice during the man advantage. Ryan Panico extended Trinity's lead just 50 seconds into the period, followed by Ty Broad's goal less than a minute later, making it 3-0.
The third period was marked by heavy penalty activity, with 13 total infractions called—five of which were on Trinity. Despite the penalty trouble, the Bantams added a fourth goal when Alexander Mozian took advantage of a rebound, chipping the puck into the Falcons' net to make it 4-0.
Trinity was effective on the power play, converting 3-of-10 opportunities, while holding Albertus Magnus to an 0-for-4 performance. The Bantams dominated the shot count, outshooting the Falcons 43-32 overall. Albertus Magnus registered 19 blocks, while Trinity logged 13 in the game.
In net, Bobak finished with 32 saves, stopping 12 shots in both the first and third periods, and 8 in the second. Albertus Magnus goalie Matt Lenz made 24 saves before being relieved by Chace Hale, who stopped 15 shots.
Trinity will return to action on Thursday, January 2nd, when they travel to Curry College for a non-conference matchup against the Colonels at 4 p.m.
