BRUNSWICK, ME. - #9 Women's Hockey defeated Bowdoin College with a last minute goal from senior Jenny Guider lifting the Bantams to a 2-1 NESCAC win. Trinity bumps up to a 13-5-2, 6-5-2 record while the Polar Bears drop 8-12-3, 3-9-3.
Guider lit the lamp in the first period with an unassisted goal at the 8:16 mark to snatch a 1-0 lead early. Hannah Leclair kept her net clean as she denied all nine shots taken on her. Polar Bears' Kathryn Kester knotted the score 1-1 during a Bowdoin power-play just seconds before the close of period two.Â
In the third Martina Exnerova made an attempt just eight seconds at a goal but was blocked by Polar Bears Bella Burghart. After nine saved shots by Bowdoin, Guider was able to collect a pass from Exnerova to sneak one past the goaltender, Sarah Peterson with just a minute remaining in play. The Polar Bears ripped four shots at an attempt to send the game into overtime, the Bantams were able to block all the lanes solidifying the 2-1 victory in the first game of the NESCAC series.
