HARTFORD, Conn. - #7 Men's Ice Hockey survived a late push from the visiting Bowdoin Polar Bears, locking in the 2-1 NESCAC win Saturday afternoon. Bantams lift their record (18-3-1, 14-1-1) while the Polar Bears drop (13-5-4, 9-3-4) overall.
Trinity's offense did not hold back as they released 28 shots on net in the first two periods, out-shooting Bowdoin 28-to-9. Bantam's chalked one on the board after senior Devan Tongue found the back of the net with an assist from James Barbour and Joseph Harney. Another even strength goal by Bantams' Nicholas Siffringer in the second period lifted Trinity to a 2-0 lead heading into the final period.
Late in the third period a scrum in front of the net pulled Devon Bobak out of position allowing Bowdoins' Luke Wheeler to score on the open net. In the remaining minute of play the Polar Bears emptied their net, attempting to knot up the score. The Bantams stayed sturdy on the ice, closing out the evening 2-1, collecting the NESCAC victory.
Trinity Men's Hockey will compete against Wesleyan University Friday, Feb. 16th for their final road match of the regular season, puck drop is at 7:00PM.
