Women's Basketball Advance to NESCAC Semis, 51-35 Victory Over Mules

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Women's Basketball team led the entire game during a 51-35 victory over visiting Colby College in the Quarterfinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship. The Mules wrap up their season while the Bantams advance to the semifinals where they will face Bates College on Saturday February, 24th at Bowdoin College.

After surrendering the opening basket of the game, Bantams' Indi DelRocco answered back with a three-point shot.  With points peppered across Trinity's starting five held a 11-9 lead over the Mules in the opening quarter of play.

The Bantams added another eleven points over the course of the second quarter while the Mules kept up, adding seven. Trinity led 22-16 after a buzzer beater from Avery Marzo with a corner three to lift the lead to a six point difference.

Both teams recorded quarter-lows with 10 points from the Bantams, while the Mules only put up 6. Reilly Campbell and Avery Marzo recorded four points a piece keeping Trinity ahead, 32-22 at the close of the third.

Trinity grew their lead by 16 in the final quarter of play.  From the bench Bantams' Olivia Vick cashed in three of these points from beyond the arc, along with Emma Wax. Trinity halted the effort from Colby as they controlled the pace of play, closing the quarterfinal match 51-35 for the final.

First year Avery Marzo recorded a career-high of 12 points as she led the Bantams to victory while adding 5 rebounds. Senior Reilly Campbell tallied 10 points and a game-high of 14 rebounds, recording her ninth double-double of the season. DelRocco dished out a game-high of four assists in the quarterfinal win.

The Bantams edged the Mules on the glass, 43-40, in points in the paint, 28-24, and bench points, 13-11, during the contest. Trinity connected on 21-of-61 (34.4%) from the floor, including 4-of-21(19.0%) from three-point range, and 5-of-5 (100%) from the foul line. Wesleyan shot 14-of-55 (25.5%) from the field, 1-of-17 (5.9%) from three-point, and 6-of-13 (46.6%) from the charity stripe.

The Bantams will advance to the semifinals to battle against Bates College on Saturday, Feb. 24th hosted at Bowdoin College.
