Spartans Defeat Bantams, 11-8

LEXINGTON, S.C - Trinity Baseball closed out their spring games in Lexington, South Carolina falling to Case Western Reserve 11-8. Bantams drop 3-4 in the season, while CWR rise 7-4.

Trinity recorded 7 hits against the Spartans, with two from Dylan Shnitzer and William Frain. Frain collected two RBI's going 2-for-5 on the day registering one double. Bantams added three stolen bases from Jack Matthews, Dylan Schnitzer, and William Sawyer.

Trinity posted two runs in the first from a throwing error by the Spartans sending Matthews home, followed by a Frains first RBI with a double to center field to bring Schnitzer home. Trinity held a 2-0 run entering the bottom of the first. 

The Spartans held Trinity at a stand still of only two runs through play till the fourth inning, after adding five of their own on the board, 5-2 Case Western. 

In the top of the fourth Zach McBride pinch hit for Ryan registering a hit to place him on first for the Bantams. The first year made it home off of wild pitches by Spartans' Quinn Sanders scoring the third run of the game. 

Case Western grew their lead to 9-3 over four innings, adding four of them in the fifth inning with a 3 RBI from Spartan's Powers.

Trinity recorded a big eighth inning closing the gap to a one point game after recording five runs, 9-8. Bantams' had the bases loaded when the Spartans' pitcher threw a wild pitch advancing all the runners, sending home Tyler Bernstein (9-4). The bases continued to stay full as Frain singles to right field, sending home Mathews, advancing Sean Meth and Schnitzer. Due to a fielder's choice the Bantams collected their first out of the inning. After a dropped third strike Trinity's Sawyer reached first, advancing, Fairchild to second, Frain to third and Meth home (9-7). With two outs the Bantams added their final two runs of the game with back-to-back batters being walked with bases loaded, 9-8.

Case Western would solidify the win after adding two more runs in the bottom of the eight.

Trinity Baseball will make their way up the coast with a stop in Montclair, New Jersey for a double header on Saturday, March 16th against Montclair State University, game times are 1PM and 3PM.
