HARTFORD, CONN.- Following a 11-4 victory in game one of the three game series the visiting Bates College Bobcats returned to DiBenedetto Stadium for a double header. Bantams William Sawyer hit a walk-off in extra innings to clinch game one, but Trinity was bested in game two splitting the day in NESCAC play.
With the split today, Trinity moved to 7-9 on the season and 2-1 in New England Small College Athletic Conference.
GAME 1 | Trinity 6, Bates 5
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Trinity got out to an early lead when William Frain grounded out to short to send in the first run, followed by a base knock from Tyler Bernstein to send home Dylan Shnitzer to make it a 2-0 game after the first. Despite the early lead, the Bobcats bounced back and capitalized from the plate with a three run homer in the fifth inning by B. Biggane to lift Bates into the lead. In the sixth Trinity would end up extending the game after knotting the score 5-5 with a three run inning.
William Sawyer went 2-for-3 from the dish with his final at-bat hitting a walk-off sacrifice fly to send in the winning run to close out game one of the NESCAC double header.
Tyler Griffin tossed for five innings collecting three strikeouts, allowing three hits, five runs and three walks. Michael Aceto would relieve Griffin from the mound and finish out the final three innings throwing one strikeout and allowing only three hits for the win in game one.

GAME 2 | Bates 6, Trinity 5
Bantams were unable to carry the same energy into the second game as the first falling to a final score of 6-5 after 7 innings. Bates managed to chalk up four runs in the third inning to open up the scoring in game two. Bantams managed to score three in the fourth, making it a one run game entering the fifth inning.
After the Bobcats added two more runs in the fifth, the Bantams were able to answer back as they added two of their own. Despite it being a one run game, 6-5, the Bantams were not able to push any more runs across the plate.
Alex Chang started on the mound for Trinity, striking out one allowing 2 hits, 2 runs in 2.1 innings of work. Sam Craven and Joseph Capano both allowed two runs a-piece in their time on the mound. Tyler Colditz tossed for the closing three innings registering 1 strikeout, allowing 1 hit and denying any Bobcats a chance across the plate.
