Four Bantam Home Runs Propel Trinity Over Colby, Trinity Falls 2-1 in NESCAC Series

WATERVILLE, ME- Two four run innings and four Bantam home runs lift Trinity College over host, Colby College in Saturday's game to begin the NESCAC three-game series. On Sunday the Bantams were bested in both games of the double header, falling 2-1 over the weekend against the Mules. Bantams own a 7-11, 2-3 record, while the Mules collect their first conference loss 18-4, 4-1.

Bantams will be back on their home turf this Friday, April 12th as they host the University of Rochester at 4PM.

Series Game One Notes (Saturday single game)

  • In the second inning, Jake Ryan 2 run homered to left field, scoring Tyler Bernstein

    • Aidan Stern followed with a double to center field for an RBI, Andrew Park scoring

    • Dylan Schnitzer had an RBI single, scoring Aidan Stern, Jake Matthews was out trying to advance to home on the play.

  • Tyler Bernstain hit a sacrifice fly to center field sending in Sean Meth (Unearned)

  • With a big fourth inning, Andrew Thomas Park hit a solo shot over the centerfield fence 

  • Schnitzer hit a one run double to right field, scoring Aidan Stern.

  • Later in the 7th inning Andrew Thomas Park hit his second solo shot of the game, for a career high of two home runs in a game.

  • Top of the eighth Bantams Sean Meth hit a one run homer.

    • Park hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Tyler Fairchild.

    • William Sawyer singled to center field, sending in Ryan for the 14th run.

  • Tyler Griffin tossed six innings for the Bantams (2 strikeouts, 10 hits, 8 runs, and 1 balk) splitting time on the mound with Michael Aceto (1 strikeout, 5 hits, 3 runs). Griffin collected the win in the NESCAC meeting, 14-11 for the final score.

Series Game Two Notes (Sunday Double Header Game 1)

  • Bantams registered two runs in the second inning with a ground out, SAC, RBI from Aidan Stern, scoring William Frain and advancing Andrew Thomas Park to third.

  • Park hit a two run dart over the right field fence to send in William Frain, Park's third home run of the series against the Mules.

  • Colby would score 6 runs over the fifth and sixth inning, with a walk-off 3-run homer from C. Palmeri 

  • Ian Brown tossed for six innings for the Bantams registering 7 strikeouts, allowing 7 hits, 6 runs and 3 walks.

Series Game Three Notes (Sunday Double Header Game 2)

  • In the first William Frain hit a SAC, RBI to send him Dylan Schnitzer and advancing Sean Meth to second.

  • Later in the fourth inning Aidan Stern doubled down the left field line for an RBI, scoring Frain.

  • Colby would build off of a big first and third inning to down the Bantams 2-12.
