Bantams Down Hawks in Non-Conference Play, 5-0

HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College Softball secured a decisive 5-0 victory against the University of Hartford in their last non-conference regular-season clash. With this win, the Bantams now boast a commendable 20-14 record, marking the first instance since 2011 that the Softball program has achieved 20 wins in a single season.

Next up, the Bantams are set to hit the road to face Bates College on Saturday, May 4th, in what promises to be an exciting final NESCAC series of the regular season.

Tiffany Stowers secured the win with an impressive performance, pitching a shutout over 6.2 innings for the Bantams, allowing only eight hits and walking just two batters out of the 29 faced. Erin Girard, a senior, stepped up to close out the game, delivering the final out and marking her last pitches on her home turf for the regular season.

In the opening inning, the Bantams seized the lead when an error by the Hawks' shortstop allowed the first run to cross the plate. Kennedy Rogers hit a fly ball to center field, advancing Taylor Mikolajczak to third base. The mishandled toss by the defense allowed Mikolajczak to round third and score safely, giving Trinity the early advantage.

In the fourth inning, Trinity extended their lead to 3-0 with consecutive doubles down the left field line, plating two more runs. Heather Roth added to the Bantams' lead in the sixth inning with her second hit of the game, driving in two RBI for a career-high total of three against the Hawks.

Mikolajczak and sophomore Abby Alper showcased their speed on the bases, collectively stealing three bases, with Alper accounting for two of them.

Despite their efforts, the Hawks were unable to generate any offense, resulting in a 5-0 victory for the Bantams.
