MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Trinity College Women's Soccer team visited Middlebury College on Saturday, where the Panthers defeated the Bantams 2-0 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup. Trinity drops to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while Middlebury remains undefeated at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the NESCAC.
The Panthers aimed to score in the tenth minute, but Trinity's freshman goalkeeper, Lily Bracken, made a crucial save against a low shot from Middlebury. In the fifteenth minute of the NESCAC contest, Panthers midfielder Mia Feldman scored the first goal of the game, giving Middlebury the lead. Despite efforts from Trinity's Elsa Deutsch and Sara Rieger to equalize, their attempts were thwarted by Panthers goalkeeper Carolyn Kelley. Trinity trailed 1-0 at halftime.
Middlebury added their second goal in the 58th minute when Franny Lodge converted a corner kick from Chloe Swindle. The Bantams struggled to mount an attack, managing only two shots throughout the contest. In goal, Bracken recorded a career-high seven saves.
The Panthers outshot the Bantams 12-2 and had a 6-to-1 advantage in corner kicks during the contest.
The Bantams will return to their home field to host the Williams College Ephs on Saturday, September 21st, at 12 PM for a NESCAC matchup.
