Trinity Topped In NESCAC Play by Williams

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Field Hockey team faced off against Williams College on Robin L. Sheppard Field on Saturday, September 21, at noon. The Bantams fell to the Ephs, 4-0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup. With this loss, Trinity's record drops to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while Williams remains undefeated at 6-0 and 3-0 in the NESCAC.

The first quarter ended without either team scoring, thanks in large part to Trinity goalkeeper Hayley Gable, who made six saves to keep the score tied at 0-0. Trinity's Izzy Devaney had a chance to put the Bantams on the board but was denied by Ephs goalkeeper Miriam Silver.

As the second quarter began, Trinity's defense faced heavy pressure, highlighted by a crucial defensive save from Devaney. Despite the Bantams' efforts, including a near-equalizer from Julia Lambert that went wide, Williams struck first when Hayley McAuslin scored, giving the Ephs a 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Williams extended their lead to 3-0, while Trinity struggled to find the back of the net. A key defensive save by Eva McKelvey during a penalty corner prevented the Ephs from adding to their score. Williams secured their final goal in the 47th minute, sealing the game at 4-0.

The Ephs dominated in shots, outshooting Trinity 37-4 and holding an 11-3 advantage in penalty corners. Both Devaney and McKelvey recorded their first defensive saves of the season, while Gable achieved a career-high 18 saves against 22 shots faced.

The Bantams will host Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on Tuesday, September 24, for their All In Game on Robin L. Sheppard Field.
