HARTFORD, Conn. – The sixth-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball squad fell to visiting Williams College, 56-51, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Oosting Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 13-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Ephs improved to 10-4 and 1-1 in the NESCAC.

Junior
Henry Vetter led the Bantams in scoring with 14 points, a game-high six assists and four rebounds. Junior
Jarrel Okorougo tallied 12 points, a team-high six rebounds and two steals, while classmate
Drew Lazarre added nine points with five boards.

The Ephs were led by Aidan Yates with a game-high 15 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the field. Hudson Hansen had nine points, and Brandon Roughley grabbed a game-high nine rebounds with eight points and three assists. Sammy Cooley pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, while Declan Porter notched eight points off the bench.

Points came at a premium early in the contest as the Bantams were held to just two points over the opening eight minutes of play. Four points from Yates put the Ephs on top, 11-4, with 11:32 on the clock. Trinity utilized treys from Lazarre and senior
Sean Macarchuk to close the gap to 14-12 at the 8:03 mark. Seven points from Yates powered a 10-2 run to rebuild a 24-14 lead for the Ephs with 2:13 remaining. Vetter and Okorougo netted late buckets to trim the deficit to 26-18 at the half.

The Bantams worked at the hole with a 14-6 run to begin the second half, capped by a jumper from Okorougo to even the score at 32-32 at the 14:18 mark. A pair of free throws from junior
Trevor McDonald gave the Bantams their lone lead of the contest, 38-36, with 11:28 remaining. Williams responded with 11 unanswered points to regain a 47-38 lead. Trinity used five points from Vetter knot the score at 48-48 with 2:13 on the clock. Williams held the Bantams to three points down the stretch to secure the 56-51 win.

The Ephs outrebounded the Bantams, 36-29, and had the edge in the paint, 24-18, and off the bench, 15-9. Trinity connected on a season-low 18-of-61 (29.5%) attempts, including 6-of-39 (15.4%) from three-point range, and a perfect 9-of-9 from the foul line. Williams shot 19-of-41 (46.3%) from the floor, 6-of-18 (33.3%) from three-point, and 12-of-18 (66.7%) from the free throw stripe.

The Bantams will look to return to the win column when they make a NESCAC road trip to Amherst College on Friday, January 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
