WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The 12th-ranked Trinity College men's ice hockey team cruised to a 6-2 victory over Williams College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup. The Bantams improve to 8-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in NESCAC play, while the Ephs fall to 4-7-1 overall and 3-5-0 in the conference.
Trinity wasted no time getting on the board, striking first just 4:25 into the contest when Richard Boysen scored, with assists from Spencer Korona and James Barbour. Later in the opening period, Eamon Doheny capitalized on a shorthanded opportunity, finding the back of the net with help from Chase McInnis and Aidan D'Urso, giving Trinity a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.
The Bantams extended their advantage early in the second frame. At 3:53, Barbour scored on the power play, with assists from Alexander Mozian and Korona. Williams responded at 11:58 when Rowan Heithoff got the Ephs on the scoreboard, narrowing the gap to 3-1 as the game entered the final period.
Trinity put the game out of reach with three more goals in the third period. Boysen netted his second of the night at 7:52, assisted by Korona and Barbour. Williams answered with a second goal from Nicholas Rashkovsky at 11:15, making it 4-2. However, the Bantams closed the game with two more goals: Weston Turner scored at 14:42, assisted by Doheny and D'Urso, and Ty Broad capped the scoring with a goal at 18:38, assisted by McInnis.
Korona finished the game with three assists, while Barbour tallied one goal and two assists. D'Urso also registered two assists, and Doheny contributed a goal and an assist in the victory.
Trinity goalie Devon Bobak made 26 saves, including 10 in both the first and second periods. Williams' Cal Sandquist stopped 25 shots in the loss.
Trinity outshot Williams, 31-28, and won 30 faceoffs to the Ephs' 32. Williams held a slight advantage in blocked shots, 11-9.
