HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Basketball team limited visiting Hamilton College to 13 points in the first half en route to a 55-44 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Oosting Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 14-4 overall and 3-1 in NESCAC play, while the Continentals drop to 2-1 in conference and 13-4 on the season.
Sophomore
Olivia Vick led the Bantams with a game-high 14 points and two rebounds, while sophomore
Avery Marzo netted 10 points with four rebounds and two blocks off the bench. Junior
Melissa Whitmore and sophomore
Madi Forman controlled the glass grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds each. Forman added six points and two blocks, and senior
Hannah Marzo filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, five points and a game-high four assists.
Hamilton sophomore Kendall Harris paced Hamilton with a team-high 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Junior Taylor Lambo chipped in eight points and seven rebounds, while first-yearErica Hills had nine points and five rebounds off the bench.
Trinity held Hamilton to just two buckets and a pair of free throws in the opening period while the Bantams built a 10-6 lead behind four-point efforts from Vick and junior
Samantha Slofkiss.
Avery Marzo converted a three-point play in the final minute of the first quarter to give Trinity a 13-6 lead.
Both sides struggled to find the bottom of the bucket in the second period, combining for a 6-of-31 effort from the floor. Following a pair of free throws from junior

Theresa Twardosky knocked down a fastbreak three-pointer to extend the Bantams lead to 20-10 at the 4:00 mark. Vick delivered a late pull-up jumper in the paint to put Trinity on top 22-13 at the half.
Avery Marzo canned a three-pointer and converted a fastbreak layup off a turnover as the Bantams created a 29-18 lead with 4:12 on the clock. Junior
Maya Carnes buried five straight points to help Trinity to a 34-24 lead entering the fourth.
Sophomore
Marlo Simms knocked down back-to-back jumpers to hand the Bantams their largest lead of the game, 41-24, with 8:18 to play. The Continental utilized a 17-10 run over the next seven minutes to trim the deficit to 51-41, but a jumper from
Hannah Marzo and free throws from
Avery Marzo sealed the 55-44 victory.
The Bantams edged the Continentals in the rebounding column (48-42), points in the paint (28-24), and off the bench (20-17). Trinity connected on 21-of-67 (31.3%) from the floor, 4-of-22 (18.2%) from three-point and 9-of-12 (75%) from the foul line. Trinity forced Hamilton second-worst shooting performance of the season with the Continentals converting 16-of-61 (26.2%) from the field, including 2-of-14 (14.3%) from beyond the arc, and 10-of-13 (76.9%) from the free throw stripe.
The Bantams will look to extend their win streak to five games with a NESCAC road trip to Wesleyan University (6-10) on Saturday, January 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
