MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Basketball squad collected a 63-50 victory over host Wesleyan University in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Silloway Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 15-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference, while the Cardinals drop to 7-11 overall and 1-4 in the NESCAC.

Sophomore
Avery Marzo led the Bantams with a career-high 21 points, shooting 9-of-16 from the floor, with two rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Sophomore
Olivia Vick tallied 12 points with two rebounds and two assists, while junior
Lucy Dorion recorded a career-high 12 points on a career-high four three-pointers. Sophomore
Madi Forman grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds with five points and two steals, and junior
Melissa Whitmore added 10 rebounds and six points.

Four scorers reached double digits for Wesleyan, paced by 13 points and a game-high four assists from Olivia Quinn. Felicia Fongemie and Meghan Kirck each logged a double-double with Fongemie tallying 12 points with 10 rebounds, while Kirck notched 11 points with 11 rebounds. Tori DaCosta added 10 points with five rebounds and three assists.

The Bantams held an early edge as triples from Vick and Dorion put Trinity ahead, 8-5, with three minutes remaining in the first quarter. Wesleyan pulled ahead 9-8 on a pair of free throws from Fongemie, but Trinity senior
Hannah Marzo delivered a pair of buckets to take a 12-9 lead into the second.

Avery Marzo erupted for 11 straight points in the second quarter to push Trinity to a 23-15 lead with 5:07 on the clock. A three-pointer from Dorion expanded the gap to 31-15, but Wesleyan closed the frame on a 7-0 run to make it a 31-22 score at the break.

Wesleyan opened the third quarter with a 14-5 run behind six points Fongemie and five from Kirck to give the Cardinals a 37-36 lead with 3:52 remaining in the frame. Down 39-36, the Bantams regained control from long range with triples from Dorion and
Avery Marzo to take a 46-41 lead into the final period.

The Bantams offense came out hot in the fourth quarter, ripping a 10-0 run to build a 56-41 lead with 5:38 to play. Vick knocked down a late three-pointer, followed by buckets from
Avery Marzo and Forman to help Trinity seal the 63-50 victory.

The Bantams dominated the glass, 55-34, the paint, 24-18, and bench play, 13-2. Trinity shot 25-of-75 (33.3%) from the floor, 11-of-31 (35.5%) from three-point, and 2-of-6 (33.3%) from the foul line. The Cardinals shot 20-of-62 (32.3%) from the field, 5-of-20 (25%) from three-point, and 5-of-7 (71.4%) from free throw line.

The Bantams will look to push their win streak to six games when they travel to Connecticut College (10-9, 0-5 NESCAC) for a conference battle on Friday, January 31
st at 7:00 p.m.
