HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Ice Hockey team was defeated by #15-ranked Colby College, 4-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup on Friday evening. With the win, the Mules improved to 10-4-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the NESCAC, while Trinity dropped to 9-7-0 overall and 6-3-0 in conference play.
Colby opened the scoring early, with Breanna Studley finding the back of the net at 7:02 of the first period to give the Mules a 1-0 lead heading into the second.
The Mules extended their advantage in the middle frame, with Courtney Schumacher scoring just 24 seconds into the period to make it 2-0. Colby added another goal at 6:36, as Anya Jiang and Megan Martodam assisted on a goal that pushed the lead to 3-0.
Trinity responded in the third period, as Jelani Adorno broke Colby goaltender Mandy Busky's shutout bid with a goal at 8:31. Adorno was assisted by Jenny Guider and Katie French. However, Colby answered with one final goal at 17:56, when Beth Sinson scored unassisted to make it 4-1.
Despite outshooting the Mules 29-22, Trinity was edged in faceoffs, 27-24. Bantams' goaltender Madeline Carter made 18 saves in the loss, while Busky recorded 28 saves for Colby.
