BABSON PARK, Mass. – The third-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball suffered their first setback of the season, falling to host Babson College in double overtime, 99-89, in a non-conference clash at Staake Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 11-1 on the season, while the Beavers rise to 7-4 overall.

Henry Vetter logged a career-high 30 points, shooting 11-of-20 from the floor and matched a career-high with five three-pointers, with four rebounds and two assists. Classmate
Drew Lazarre netted a career-high 22 points, connecting on a career-high 9-of-17 field goals with eight rebounds and two steals. Senior
Will Dorion chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and a team-high three assists.

The Beavers had four scorers in double figures, led by a team-high 24 points and seven rebounds from senior Nate Amado. Graduate Alex Stoddard tallied 22 points with five rebounds, while fellow graduate Felix Kloman notched 19 points with a game-high seven assists and five rebounds. Junior Timmy O'Toole recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Vetter came out of the gates hot, netting nine of the Bantam's first 12 points en route to a 12-6 lead at the 14:40 mark for the first half. Junior
Trevor McDonald delivered a pair of buckets, along with a triple from sophomore
Jared Berry as Trinity expanded the lead to 22-14. Babson closed the gap to 27-23, but the Bantams regained control with a 9-3 run to hold a 36-26 advantage. The Beavers wrapped the first half strong, outscoring Trinity 15-5 behind a trio of three-pointers to even the score at 41-41 heading into halftime.

Vetter potted five points to open the second half, followed by four points from Lazarre as the Bantams maintained a 50-46 lead. Stoddard knocked down three three-pointers to help the Beavers to a 55-54 lead at the 14:10 mark. Down 58-55, Babson ripped a 17-5 run over the next six minutes to grab a 72-63 advantage with 5:56 on the clock. In a 74-65 hole with 4:05 to play, the Bantams rallied with a 13-4 run, capped by a three-pointer from Vetter with just over 30 seconds to play to send the game to overtime.

The Bantams held an edge through a majority of the first overtime as Lazarre sandwiched buckets around a fastbreak layup from Dorion to give Trinity the 85-81 lead with 1:48 remaining. A pair of Bantam turnovers allowed the Beavers to find the equalizer from Kloman to force a second overtime knotted at 85-85.

Babson outscored Trinity, 14-4, during the final period. Tied 87-87 with 3:03 on the clock, the Beavers used a jumper from Kloman and a layup from O'Toole to grab a 94-87 lead. The Bantams were forced to foul late, where Babson knocked down eight straight free throws to seal the 99-89 win.

The Bantams controlled the rebounding column, 42-35, and points in the paint, 46-32, while the Babson reserves outscored Trinity, 32-18. The Bantams connected on 34-of-69 (49.3) field goal attempts, including 8-of-25 (32%) from beyond the arc, and 13-of-16 (81.3%) from the foul line. The Beavers shot 35-of-75 (46.7%) from the floor, 14-of-32 (43.8%) from three-point range, and 15-of-18 (83.3%) from the free throw stripe.

The Bantams will look to return to the win column when they host Worcester State (3-8) in a non-conference matchup at Oosting Gymnasium Monday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m.
