Falkson’s Second-Half Goal Lifts Trinity Field Hockey Past Connecticut College, 2-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College field hockey team topped the visiting Connecticut College Camels, 2-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash Wednesday evening under the lights on Robin L. Sheppard Field. The Bantams improve to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in league play, while the Camels fall to 3-5 overall and 1-5 in the NESCAC.

What Happened:

  • Trinity struck first less than five minutes into the contest following an earned corner opportunity. Off the set piece, Brooke DiBiase found Claire Griffith on the right side of the stroke. Griffith fired an off-balance shot that was redirected by first-year Lindsay Rogers past Camel goalkeeper Isabelle Carnall to put the Bantams ahead, 1-0.
  • Connecticut College responded in the final minutes of the first quarter on a corner of its own. Serena Moore's shot toward the near post took a deflection into traffic, where Bridget McGann capitalized on the loose ball and sent it over Trinity keeper Hayley Gable's pads to even the score, 1-1, at the close of the opening frame.
  • The game remained tightly contested until the third quarter, when Trinity's Nina Falkson provided the decisive goal. Falkson carried the ball to the right endline and threaded a sharp-angle shot that slipped just between the right post and Carnall's pads, giving the Bantams a 2-1 lead at the 37:23 mark.
  • Despite a man-up advantage in the fourth quarter following a Trinity green card, the Camels were unable to convert. The Bantams held strong defensively to secure the conference victory.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Connecticut College held a narrow 15–14 edge in total shots, including a 12–7 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Both teams earned five penalty corners, converting once each.
  • Gable recorded 11 saves for the Bantams, while Carnall finished with five stops for the Camels.
