Field Hockey Edged By Colby, 2-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Field Hockey team suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Robin L. Sheppard Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams sit at 3-10 on the season, and 1-7 in conference, while the Mules rise to 5-7 overall and 1-7 in conference.
 
What Happened:
  • Prior to the game, the Field Hockey program honored their six departing seniors: Harper Siemens, Allyson Foley, Maeve Hymovitz, Kate McManus, Lucy Werner and Hayley Gable.
  • In the 25th minute, the Mules grabbed a 1-0 lead as Ava DiPasquale blocked a shot attempt from Bridget Everett, but Abby Morrill chipped the loose ball past Gable to put Colby ahead.
  • The Mules extended their lead with 10:21 remaining in the third quarter as the Mules connected passes up the sideline and Bridget Everett raced into the circle and tucked a shot past Gable to set the score at 2-0.
  • Less than four minutes later, the Bantams trimmed the gap to 2-1 as Harper Siemens navigated to the goal mouth and found Brooke DiBiase at the far post for an open net goal.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • The Bantams controlled the shot column, 16-7, and held the edge in shots on goal, 5-3.
  • Trinity earned more penalty corners, 6-3.
  • Ginna Jacoby posted a match-high four saves for Colby, while Gable notched one save for the Bantams.
 
Up Next:
  • The Bantams will be back on the field when they travel to 14th-ranked Hamilton College for a NESCAC clash on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m.
  • All-time, Trinity holds a 10-5 record against the Continentals, dating back to their first matchup in 2011.
