HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Soccer team fell to visiting Colby College, 4-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at Trinity College Soccer Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams dip to 5-5-2 on the season, and 1-5-1 in conference, while the Mules improve to 8-2-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NESCAC.
What Happened:
- Prior to the match, the Women's Soccer program honored their five departing seniors: Elsa Deutsch, Elena Lindonen, Sarah Kenney, Jill Fisher and Alyssa Keane.
- Just over seven minutes into the contest, the Mules cracked the scoreboard as Avery Barton played a long ball to Abigail Jarvi, who chipped a shot past the diving attempt from Trinity keeper Lily Bracken to give Colby the 1-0 lead.
- In the 24th minute, Ella Caraluzzi dribbled toward the goal line and placed a pass to the front of the net, where Madison Genser tucked a left-footed shot into the lower corner to push Colby to a 2-0 lead.
- With less than 28 minutes to play, the Bantams were awarded a free kick outside the box, and on the attempt, Kyra Charette lifted a shot over the head of Mules goalie Sadie Gardner to trim the deficit to 2-1.
- The Mules pulled away late with a pair of goals in a 1:02 span, utilizing strikes from Amanda Schneider and Claire Walsh to secure the 4-1 win.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Mules held the advantage in the shot column, 13-9, and shots on goal, 9-3.
- The Bantams earned more corner kick chances, 5-4, and received more whistles, 12-11.
- Bracken made a game-high five saves for Trinity, while Gardner logged three saves in relief of MK Mitchell for Colby.
