Volleyball Sweeps Amherst, 3-0

AMHERST, Mass. – The Trinity College Volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 victory over host Amherst College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) match at LeFrak Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 11-8 overall and 2-6 in conference, while the Mammoths dip to 5-8 on the season and 2-6 in the NESCAC.
 
What Happened:
  • The Bantams used a 7-3 run late in the first set to grab a 25-22 win, and then led wire-to-wire during a 25-22 victory in the second set. In the third set, Trinity led 9-5, but Amherst evened the score three times to remain close. Trailing 16-15, the Bantams closed the set on a 10-6 run to log the 25-22 win.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • The Bantams generated 44 kills on a .239 hitting percentage with 48 digs, 39 assists, 14 blocks and four service aces.
  • The Mammoths posted 39 kills on a .184 hitting percentage with 45 digs, 37 assists, seven blocks and four aces.
  • Ellie Gordon paced the Trinity attack with a match-high 15 kills with a .306 hitting percentage and a match-high four blocks.
  • Maggie Barnes tallied seven kills and two blocks, while Amy Boller notched a career-high seven kills with a career-high 11 digs.
  • Chloe Gentile delivered a career-high six blocks with five kills, and Maya Hall added five kills and a match-high two aces.
  • Bella Nash grabbed a career-high 19 digs with two assists and an ace, while Catalina Hendrick dished out a match-high 22 assists with six digs.
